County Fence: Community Liason

Position: Community Liaison (North Fork)
Help the community thrive by inviting them to play and collaborate.

We are stilll pre-revenue. We’re open to a volunteer or deferred revenue arrangement. We expect to be making money and able to pay this position within 6-12 months. See our roadmap for details. It may be best to wait until we know our revenue streams and can offer you more specifics. But feel free to talk to us if this interests you! We’d love to get to know you more.

Who We’re Looking For
The County Fence is seeking a Community Liaison rooted in the North Fork to help us build a welcoming, joyful, and meaningful space for artists, writers, musicians, activists, and volunteers. This role is about cultivating culture, deepening relationships, and celebrating what makes our local community vibrant.

We’re looking for someone who understands how to make spaces come alive—someone familiar with group brainstorming, improv, or other ways of helping adults engage playfully and meaningfully with one another. You know how to spark energy in a room and how to help people feel safe and creative. You know how to bring out the brilliance in others!

What You’ll Do

  • Build relationships with local creatives, organizers, and volunteers.
  • Support and empower existing community groups to use The County Fence as a home base for communication, coordination, and storytelling.
  • Propose and coordinate events, activities, and incentives that make our platform more useful, more fun, and more sticky.
  • Host or co-host events and celebrations.
  • Appear in brief promotional videos for events or initiatives (not the main face of the brand, just a real and encouraging presence).
  • Write invitations or announcements in collaboration with our in-house writer, or simply pass along the details.
  • Build culture with intention and purpose. Invite people to experience a whole new way of relating to the world, each other, and themselves.

About You

  • You’re empathetic. You listen well, adapt easily, and help others feel welcome and seen.
  • You have experience with community organizing, facilitation, or team-building—formally or informally.
  • You love helping others succeed and are happiest when you’re supporting a bigger cause.
  • You understand what makes a good volunteer experience: low pressure, clear asks, good vibes, and meaningful impact.
  • You’re imaginative and proactive. You bring ideas to the table and are ready to iterate and improve as you go.
  • You’re thoughtful and want to share your ideas and insights with the team to help us understand what you see.

Compensation

Part-Time (10–20 hrs/week) | Hybrid (in-person + online) | Compensation: Stipend

As we find our way to revenue this will be a salaried part-time role (10–20 hrs/week) with an initial stipend or hourly pay. There are multiple ways this role could evolve, depending on your interests and needs. It’s possible you want to continue serving the community, or turn more internally towards facilitating our team’s events, or move into more of an advisory role for us.

Regardless of the path you take, this is a valued and appreciated role, because culture building is at the core of what The County Fence represents. Fundamentally we are asking our members to consider a new way of relating, and you will often be the voice for that message.

Heart felt thanks for your service. We hope to hear from you soon!
