We’d love to host your private group! First sign up on The County Fence, then send a personal message to @bitmason to get your group set up. Tell me the name of your group, a brief description, and any other questions you have.
Here are some examples of groups people may want to run:
- a non profit
- an initiative or activist movement
- a group of friends that gets together for hobbies
- a club or topic based group
You will get a private section of the forum that only your members can see. We offer this as a way to help people coordinate their groups. The facilitator of the group (typically the person who applies for access) will be responsible for moderation of any content within the group.
In general, The County Fence will not interfere with your internal business unless you’re doing something illegal or harmful to our members. Keep in mind, The Fence is not encrypted in its current form, so don’t do anything you wouldn’t want your mother to see.
If your group is just getting started and you don’t have the resources or know-how to set up your own tech, this is a great opportunity to get up and running so you can focus on your idea and taking care of your membership.
To get support and comraderie from other community leaders (and County Fence leadership) check out Idea Lab. We’ll do some brainstorming sessions to surface aspirations, challenges and how we can support each other.
